Mgb missfire

Post by Jonahmgb » Fri May 18, 2018 7:20 am

1979 Mgb rubber bumper.
Hiya all .
Took the mg out today (a warm day)
The problem is when when the car gets warm about 12o'clock on the
Temp gauge the car starts to miss fire and splutter
Till the point where it just cuts out .
Wait 5minutes then you can restart it then the same happens again.
Managed to limp home .
I have removed the fuel pump and cleaned the contacts and reset it .
Replaced dizzy cap plugs condenser leads
Only thing I haven't replaced is the coil .
Any suggestions .....?

I have had this myself and it has happened with dirt in the carb, leaking floats (which fill up more you run the car) and once I was firing on 3 cylinders due to a bad wiring connection from my electronic ignition. Checking the floats might be a good start and make sure both carbs are evenly balanced when running warm...
