Oil Filter

Post by RJKflyer » Wed Sep 24, 2014 11:21 am

Looking for views on the best oil filter to use on an unmodified 28,000mile 1980 Roadster.

I see MANN filters seem well though if? Appear to have a good filtration and shut-off valve.

Curiously US MG sites recommend W917 (85mm high, 1.1bar bypass valve) whereas it looks like W916 (95mm, 0.9 bar bypass valve) is the right one according to the MANN website?

Also, which to avoid? I ask as my initial forays into replacement parts supplies have showed that, although delightfully almost every single part is available for these cars, the quality of many is truly terrible. Surprisingly worse than the original BL parts..!

Thanks all.

Moss do some nice ones. K&N and such if you want to go upmarket, I just used one of their cheaper ones last time and it seemed good quality.
