My most recent engine refurbishment has arrived, a 2008 JCW vehicle, in crimson and ebony. It is inoperative; a suspected ruptured piston, likely the number 3 or number 4 piston, has failed. The proprietor enquired whether I would create it for him, to which I agreed. I will additionally modify the cylinder head, enhance airflow by enlarging the port dimensions, and subsequently add ribs to the ports to facilitate improved air circulation. It enhances the air-fuel mixture; this is particularly effective in non-turbo engines and port injection systems. Once equipped with a hybrid turbo and optimised ECU files, it may achieve nearly 300bhp while maintaining reliability. That being noted, any system operating at that capacity is perpetually precarious. Merely replacing an O2 sensor will not resolve this issue, haha.
This is the engine and gearbox removed from the crank, reconditioned, and the block re-bored to an oversized specification to accommodate forged pistons. The plan is to commence work on the unit on Monday, where I will begin stripping it down. I have a N18 engine in the unit from my project car, which I purchased two years ago and has been idle while I addressed several remaining issues, including superknock and oil pump solenoid fault codes. Febi now offers the oil pump solenoids for approximately £90, so I have procured a new one; this will be a small task for my daughter and me tomorrow. Additionally, I need to perform an oil and filter chang

Diagnosing and addressing the fundamental issue is the sole viable approach; merely replacing components will only serve as a temporary fix for underlying problems, leading to inevitable failures.

The fabricated engine appears to be an excellent option - will you be utilising the conventional crank? Is 300 BHP sufficient, or is an enhancement required as well? Identical inquiry regarding connecting rods as well as bearings.

The standard crank is robust and will endure; it merely requires proper mapping on the dynamometer, which the owner is managing.
