I was nearly stopped at a roundabout when the engine cut out! I was trying to decide whether to shift into first or second gear. Does starting the engine always require pressing the A button? If not, is there any other way to disable it?

Your point is understood In my opinion, it is particularly risky around roundabouts. I would also like to know if there is a solution.

Making the car believe the bonnet was open has worked in the past, but I can't say for sure if it will work on this particular vehicle. It is easy to rewire or relocate a switch that detects when the bonnet is closed if it is located on the bonnet. In my opinion, there are alternatives that can trick the latest electronic devices.

Even though it's been over a decade, I'm still using the original battery, which means that if I forget to disable the switch, ISG won't affect my driving decisions.

Until it was completely stopped, ISG never kicked in.
