The EV4's electronics are the root cause of a few issues that are starting to "grate" on people.

A feature of the EV4 that is starting to grate on my nerves is the button located on the steering wheel that activates the voice assistant. I can't seem to get her to sleep no matter what I do—the way I grip the wheel, its shape, or simply that it's too sensitive. She doesn't understand F*, so why didn't KIA program that in?**Disabled - I utilise it frequently when I'm with her?

The noises produced by the NCAP systems are annoying; for example, when I approach a junction, the eye direction sensor beeps to remind me to check my side mirrors, and when my speedometer reads 31 mph, even though my speed detector shows that I am only going 29 mph, I hear a warning beep. I can handle it, or at least figure out how to program the star switch so that the all-seeing eye is easier to turn off.

Every time I start up the car, I get the same annoying "drive carefully" message. It could be more reasonable if it was limited to the initial startup each day.

Lastly, a warning about leaving children or pets in the car appears every time I turn it off. Neither of us ever carries. On two separate occasions in the past week, though, I have locked the car, only to have the alarm go off after a few seconds and then see a "detection" message in the KIA app. You can stop it by unlocking and locking it again with the key fob.

The novelty of these nuisances has long since faded, and they now detract from an otherwise excellent vehicle; I don't know if this is a sensitivity issue or what.

I completely understand what you're saying; I've only driven about 500 miles in my EV4. Weirdly, this is true for the majority of brand-new cars on the market these days. I think it will be possible to disable "Hey Kia" by hitting the button again in the event that you accidentally press it. Unfortunately, I don't believe "Eff off" is hardwired into her.

The VERY audible klaxon that goes off whenever I turn on or off is the most annoying thing. In the setup, I disabled Welcome, but it made no impact. But I agree, flaws and all, it is an excellent vehicle.

You may disable the pet/children warning in the Niro's settings, though it may work differently in other models. Thankfully, my car is a late model, so there are no mandatory speed chimes. However, I believe there's a steering button that can be pressed and held every time you get in to disable that. Once again, I disabled the welcome chime and message in the settings. I haven't inadvertently used the voice button, so either my hands are Kia-approved or the button is better positioned on the steering wheel.
Can you disable the headlights and simply keep the daytime running lights on when it gets dark? I'm asking this in a separate thread. It appears the other thread has verified that the off selector is inactive, which would be a major turnoff for me in terms of nannying.

My MY24 Niro EV is up to the task. Is it impossible to do this with an EV4?

I avoided repeatedly turning on VA and the buttons were set a little more "inboard" on my 2023 NiroEV. After pressing the radio volume control for a few seconds, the speed sensor warning will be disabled. However, the speed limit sign will continue to flash, which is annoying because I know I am actually going slower than the limit. I am a member of the local speedwatch group, and I had some friends compare my actual speed with the car's reported speed; at 30mph, my real speed is 27.7mph.

To avoid the "Please drive carefully" countdown and the Welcome start screens, my current routine involves pressing the Start button and then quickly shifting into reverse. To return to neutral, hit the star button (which takes me to the "Driver Assistance Page"). From there, select the DAW link. Finally, disable the warning sound. Hold down the volume button and press the map button simultaneously to begin driving. Reading it takes more time:giggle:;)
