Ball Stud for Tailgate Gas Struts

I noticed that my Hyundai Tucson's tailboard gas strut is missing one of its ball studs. Should I replace the gas strut altogether or just buy the mounting stud?

The ball stud is, in fact, a discrete component that can be bought independently.
